The building of this 1870 km railway from Kapiri Mposhi in Zambia to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, was the largest aid project ever undertaken. It was built using local and Chinese labour in five years, and constructed to allow Zambian copper to be exported without going through White controlled Rhodesia and South Africa. This book, written at the euphoric start of operations, sets the geographic, engineering and ultimately political and economic scene of this huge enterprise. The Line is also known as TAZARA or Tanzam.Published: 15. April 1976Typ: bookISBN: 978-0-575-02089-4
